Introduction

Dr Bhagyashree Manohar Deshpande is the current I/C Principal of Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University's New law Law College, Pune. Born on 13 May 1964 at Pune, Maharashtra, Dr Bhagyashree completed her LL.B on 1988 and LL.M. on 1991 from the University of Poona, Pune. She later went on to complete her NET from UGC in 1997, before completing her Ph.D. from Osmania University, Hyderabad in 1998.

With an academic and administrative experience of 26 years, Dr Bhagyashree is a former Dean of Law Faculty, at Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Pune. She is also the former vice principal of New Law College, BVP.

Apart from this, Dr Bhagyashree has also served as the Chairman of Board of Studies at Bharati Vidyapeeth, Pune. She has also been a member of International Council of Jurist at United Kingdom. On the other hand, Dr Bhagyashree was a recognized Ph.D guide in Savitribai Pule Pune University.

Dr Bhagyashree has served as a full time lecturer at Nizamabad Law College in Andra Pradesh from 1992-1999. She has also been a part of a research project in subject of law titled as ‘Implications of right to education on women empowerment’, a constitutional study, sponsored by UGC and submitted in 2017.

During her tenure at various institutes, Dr Bhagyashree has received many awards and accolades for her exemplary work in the field of education. She was honoured with Best Law Teacher Award in 2014 by Hon’ble Shri. Ajitdada Pawar, the then Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra State. She has also received the Best Teacher award in 2013 at the department of education in Pune.

In recognition of outstanding contribution to the legal academic community, the students and the Institution, Dr Bhagyashree was given the best teacher award in 2003 by Bombay Society of Legal Scholars. She is also recognised for her various publications and presentations like intellectual property and mechanic engineering, Smart City-Use of Technology and the Needed Labour Reforms, Objection to Arbitral Tribunal’s Jurisdiction, Concept of Juvenility and Juvenile Justice and many more.

She has given presentations at various conference and workshops. She has talked on the subject of Freedom of Press at the International Conference of Jurists on International Terrorism, Law and International Terrorism, in International Conference of Jurists & Writers.
